As expected, Microsoft began talking about Internet Explorer 9 in public yesterday at its PDC event in Los Angeles. So far, it’s only talking about its guts-but it’s working on two it the items from my personal IE9 wishlist, faster JavaScript and the beginnings of HTML5 support.
A hacker eager to reconnect modded Xbox 360s banned by Microsoft in recent days may be on the verge of releasing a workaround. According to 360Mods (by way of DailyTech), user ‘c4eva’ has shifted gears from developing Lite-on and Hitachi optical drive mods to creating a firmware rev that would allow modded Xbox 360s to bypass Microsoft’s online security tests. SAN FRANCISCO — Microsoft’s new-generation Windows 7 operating system hit the ground running, with US sales in its opening days blasting past those of its Vista predecessor, according to NPD Group.
Sales of Windows 7 in the days following its October 22 release were 234 percent higher than those posted by Vista when it was released into the market, the market research firm reported on Thursday.
“Microsoft’s program of early low-cost pre-sales, high visibility marketing, and aggressive deals helped make the Windows 7 software launch successful,” said NPD vice president of analysis Stephen Baker.
“In a slow environment for packaged software Windows 7 brought a large number of customers into the software aisles,” he said.
The bar wasn’t set to high at all, these numbers should be compared to XP instead. Vista was a complete disaster, a epic Microsoft fail. Windows 7 sales not looking to bad in these economic times were people keeping money in there pockets. I commend Microsoft and slightly chuckle at Apple fans who probably raging right now.
Infinite Journal: The Infinite Journal, as we mentioned, is the heart of Courier. It’s an endless notebook for writing, drawing, storing content like a scrapbook and sharing notes with other people. It’s paginated, and every item is tagged with a timestamp and geotag. You can also tag pages, for easy searching.
This would have to be favorite feature highlighted! Not only the fact that’s an endless journal, but just imagine the amount of information stored on this. You can buy e-books for school and instead of having 3 700 page books, you can have 1 infinite page book haha. This would come in very handy for those who love to jot things down the old school way but in a modern format. (more…)
According to the video, publishing from your Infinite Journal is easy, with pages and sections exporting to Courier files, Powerpoint presentations, or PDFs. And according to Mary-Jo Foley, the device will run Windows 7 … but not be able to install Windows 7 applications. Say what?
Microsoft wins with the book idea, just replaces the usual need for a notebook or datebook. I believe this design is amazing, honestly judging from the video the amount of things this thing can do it’s just incredible. Seems like competition for the Apple Tablet which is rumored to release soon. Apple will win with the apps if it does release it’s tablet, because of its well established app store already and with these it makes any Apple device just constantly better lol if thats a good way to put it.
It looks like Microsoft is taking an exuberant stab at stealing the Apple Tablet’s thunder. Microsoft’s Courier tablet …err “notebook” computer is reportedly in the “late prototype” stage of development. It is a tablet style computer that features dual multi-touch 7 inch displays in a clamshell configuration. A video posted on YouTube by Gizmodo (see below) demonstrates a mock-up of its exceptionally advanced interface. While there’s no promising that this device will ever actually make it to production, if it does, it will satisfy the demands of both the tablet and netbook markets.
I love the way competition shakes up a market, All eyes were on the Apple Tablet then news of Microsoft’s tablet just came from no where. Can’t wait to see them both on the market with some competitive prices haha, the future of Ebook reading is upon us, never liked the kindle…
That video just looks simply amazing! but as a prototype and since they are using an animated video tutorial and not one of the actual product it’s difficult to say if this is how the product will function. They did the same with Project Natal at E3.
