Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez has once again accused the United States of playing God. But this time it’s Haiti’s disastrous earthquake that he thinks the U.S. was behind. Spanish newspaper ABC quotes Chavez as saying that the U.S. navy launched a weapon capable of inducing a powerful earthquake off the shore of Haiti. He adds that this time it was only a drill and the final target is … destroying and taking over Iran.
Now that is a huge allegation…I can’t say it’s true or not true but I know he must have some sort of proof to say something like this.
100% of proceeds from the sale of the Hope For Haiti Now album and any of its individual live performance tracks will go to Clinton Bush Haiti Fund, Oxfam America, Partners In Health, Red Cross, UNICEF, United Nations World Food Programme, and Yéle Haiti Foundation. 100% of proceeds from the sale of the individual studio track, “Stranded (Haiti Mon Amour),” featuring Jay-Z, Bono, The Edge, and Rihanna, will benefit Partners In Health.
WARNING GRAPHIC VIDEO. The Red Cross estimates 45,000 to 50,000 people were killed in Tuesday’s cataclysmic earthquake and on Friday the AP got images of streets full of bodies. (Jan. 15)
There’s been some accusations about Yele which is Wyclefs org for Haiti. Glad he cleared the air and I hope we can get back to the point which is Haiti is in dire need of help.
Tiger Woods is considering a $3 million donation that would send doctors and supplies to Haiti, rap icon Russell Simmons told the Daily News.
“Tiger Woods is working on sending a mobile hospital with 50 EMTs to go set up a triage,” Simmons said Wednesday night.
Simmons and representatives from Wyclef Jean’s Haitian relief organization Yele have asked Woods to support the effort. Simmons spokesman has been in touch with Woods managment team and they are “excited” about the idea.
It would put Tiger Woods in a even worst spot if he didn’t give the money now. If this was a way to put him on the spot it surely will work, there’s no way he can have things going any worst for him. If it is in motion then this is a great contribution because it’s not going directly to the victims but its going to something that can directly assist and help in the situation.
A 7.0-magnitude earthquake hit Haiti on Tuesday knocking down buildings and killing over 100,000 people. Following the catastrophe, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie donated $1 million to the “Doctors Without Borders” for the organization’s emergency medical operations in Haiti. In a statement, the couple said, “We will work closely with our good friend Wyclef Jean to support the humanitarian efforts on the island and help those who have been injured and left without homes and shelter.”
I’m happy to see celebrities donating, and I’ve seen these guys do give before. All that money made in hollywood it’s good to see some of it is being put to good use.
NEW YORK (Top40 Charts) – Today “Yele” is one of the most popular topics on Twitter. Micro-bloggers are tweeting and retweeting messages urging followers to donate $5 to singer Wyclef Jean’s Yele Haiti Foundation.
Word is quickly spreading that people can make the donation by simply texting the word “Yele” to the number 501501.
One of Jean’s representative tweeted from his account yesterday saying, “WARRIORS NEWS:::: Wyclef is currently in Haiti giving aid and assessing the situation::::: Keep him and the Haitian people in your prayers.”
This is amazing! The power of social networks which proves to be of some aid and not only a time waster. I know I haven’t made any post on the disaster but this is because so much has been going on, but I have Haiti in my prayers.
