Disney ended up picking just the right moment to jump down the 3-D rabbit hole.
As “Avatar” comes to the end of a historic three-month run, Walt Disney Studios’ “Alice in Wonderland” took most of the 3-D screens and opened to an eye-popping $210.3 million worldwide.
Much like director James Cameron’s mega-hit, Tim Burton’s adaptation of the classic tale, starring Johnny Depp, generated about 70% of its opening weekend business from theaters with 3-D screens. It easily beat the premiere of “Avatar” and set a record for the biggest winter opening, even accounting for ticket price inflation, selling a studio-estimated $116.3 million worth of tickets in the U.S. and Canada.
Amazing! I know it was anticipated but didn’t know this much. I personally haven’t seen it yet but want to on the big screen mainly because of Depp ha!
The News Corp (NWSA.O)-owned studio said “Avatar” has sold $1.841 billion worth of tickets worldwide during its unbroken six-week reign, and was a day or so away from surpassing the seemingly insurmountable $1.843 billion racked up by “Titanic” in 1997-1998.
The international portion stands at $1.288 billion, eclipsing the $1.242 billion haul of “Titanic.”
I just have to lol at some of these reality tv shows. This is the 2nd case of violence in this show that I have seen, this show is pure madness and just look at the guys looking and waiting to step in but not stepping in on time. I can’t front though after this I might download and start watching it ha!
Conan O’Brien is nearing a deal to split with NBC’s Tonight Show for a $40 million payout, according to The Wall Street Journal. The deal would end the ugly dustup that has ensued since the network announced plans to move Jay Leno back into the 11:35 p.m. timeslot after his prime-time berth tanked in the ratings. O’Brien’s deal would reportedly bar him from (further) disparaging the network, but would allow him to land somewhere else in less than a year — instead of making him sit out the remaining two-plus years on his contract.
I wouldn’t mind walking away from a job with that kind of money! NBC screwed up so it’s neither Leno or Conan’s fault and I’m hoping he goes else where and do what he’s good at.
Nicolas Cage plans to pay back money he owes to the IRS. The actor recently had a tax lien slapped on his real estate holdings that included $6.7 million from 2008.
He said: “Over the course of my career I have paid at least $70 million in taxes. Unfortunately, due to a recent legal situation, another approximate $14 million is owed to the IRS.”
Glad to see some positive Nic Cage news! I’m hoping he can get back on his feet and back to where he was originally at. Looking forward to his future projects which you can take a look at on his imdb page. Last movie I watched that he starred in is Bad Lieutenant and I have to say the guy is a brilliant actor!
The women of Hollywood were shown a lot of love at this year’s Critic’s Choice Awards, particularly Meryl Streep and Sandra Bullock.
The stars gave audiences an eyeful Friday night when Bradley Cooper announced that they had tied to win Best Actress: Streep for “Julie & Julia” and Bullock for “The Blind Side.”
Streep and Bullock took to the stage and proceeded to give each other a spontaneous open mouthed kiss, much to Cooper’s enjoyment.

Heidi Montag has admitted that she is “beyond obsessed” with plastic surgery after having ten procedures in one day last November.
The Hills star told People magazine she had a breast enlargement, liposuction, nose job and injections in her lips and eyebrows.
She said: “For the past three years, I’ve thought about what to have done. I’m beyond obsessed.
“I need to feel comfortable as a woman as a person. This is a very controversial thing even in today’s society, but the most important thing is for me to feel good and be happy and confident in my body.”
I told you Hollywood ef’s up people. This is why there’s so many idiots changing there body up at a young age, even before they can develop. What’s even dumber is the fact that these people get children that look nothing like them, as the children get older they want to get cosmetic surgery because they look at themselves and nothing is perfect. Publicizing that your obsessed with cosmetic surgery just shows how idiotic and uncomfortable you really are with yourself, ain’t nothing worst than someone hating themselves.
